Stappenplan - Season 2

This Saturday, we will begin Season 2 of our show Stappenplan on Omroep Voorne. We haven’t changed much, but there are a few things that will be different. For one thing, we might no longer have a live stream…

Because of some “technical difficulties” (i.e. our stream host is going out of business), the live stream will probably die over this coming weekend. So if you want to listen in, you’ll have to get your butt into broadcasting range and tune in to 106.9 FM.

One of the most fun parts for us of season 1 of Stappenplan was “Raggen en Beuken,” our weekly poll to determine what song to play as the very last song of the show. Choose “Raggen” and you get a heavy guitar record, think metal and hardrock. Go for “Beuken” and you get a track with heavy beats, think along the lines of hardcore here. I’m responsible for the rock song, and Coen takes care of the beats. Since it’s getting harder and harder to get my hands on proper (charting) metal tracks that actually sound good (no offense to any metal bands, but most of the material is just crap, with vocals that barely run in sync with the music, overzealous guitarists that jump into solos out of the blue, in a different key and tempo as the rest of the song, or lead singers that just can’t sing worth a damn), I’m going for a little more mainstream rock this season. Don’t worry, it’ll still be up-tempo and there will still be lots of guitar work in there (this week’s song is pretty damn good, but no guarantees for next time), and it will still be edited down to roughly one minute.

The rest of the musical format has changed a bit as well. As you may have guessed, I’m more of a rock fan, whereas Coen is more of a dance music fan. Usually, Coen compiles the playlist, so when he’s unavailable and I do it, there’s quite a change. This season, we’re going to add a lot more top 40 tracks, and try to get a good balance between new dance and rock songs to throw in there as well.

New this season is the addition of Youri. He’s a local musician from Rockanje, and he’s going to play listeners’ requests live on our show. He’s starting in september. Those requests can be anything, he’s going to try to work it into something he can play on the guitar, and give his own spin to the songs. The only thing he won’t do is Dutch, if we get a Dutch song as a request he’ll translate it into English. Please don’t request your cousin’s band from Berlin, unless their music is available online. He needs to be able to hear the song so he can cover it ;-)

Also new is the “Cocktail of the Month.” Every month, we’ll promote a certain cocktail (with the assistance of Picobello Entertainment & Catering), which will be available in various places in our broadcasting area (and even a little outside it) for roughly the same price. Order our cocktail, and you’ll get a fancy Stappenplan sticker as well!

Other than that, it’s pretty much the same show. Same people, same content, but we’ll keep it interesting for you. Enjoy the show!
